Facelift FAQs

During the operation, the patient is either under a full anaesthetic, or they are sedated and asleep. A local anaesthetic will have the area completely numb during the procedure and for some time after. Some patients experience soreness around the ears whilst the bandage is in place. This rarely continues for more than a few days.

The procedure itself will take somewhere between two to four hours, though it can last longer if other procedures are performed at the same time.

The anti ageing effect of a good facelift can last for up to 10 years, but this is very dependent on the maintenance given to the patient as well as their general health and wellbeing.

This procedure lasts a lot longer than anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers, though it is not reversible.

Depending on the style of the facelift, a patient can expect to look 10 to 15 years younger and should continue to look years younger than his or her age. For example, if one person from a set of twins has a facelift at 40 making her appear 15 years younger than her twin, at 50 she will still look younger than her sister and so on.

Most modern plastic surgery will have you looking recovered at 5 to 7 days; however, the final result of your surgery may take several months. Superficial swelling, numbness and some unevenness may persist past 6 weeks, however after the first 5 days; the patient will always look improved and will continue to do so while the final result is achieved.

Approximately $11,000 + hospital & anaesthetic. There are no Medicare rebates.
